About Me
In the early 2000's I started sharing my self-portraiture on various social media platforms. Flickr being the main platform, during those years most of the pictures were done through experimentation, having fun with different mediums and sharing a mutual inspiration of creativity with like-minded artists and photographers.
I use Photoshop for editing, instant film cameras (Polaroid&Instax) and digital cameras (Canon and Nikon) I also like to experiment with TTV with the help of glass sheets/paint and vintage toy cameras. These days I am strictly using Nikon and different instant cameras, my favourite is my Lomo Instant square used with Instax film because it is the only instant camera that I've found to be useful for self-portraits.
It was (still is) a lot of fun learning new technique and basically dressing up to create characters from all types of things that inspire me. Fairytales, growing up in an extremely religious household, novels and poetry from my childhood, movies that stuck with me and I never got over.
I was also finding myself having gone through my first struggles with depression. I used this outlet to forget my daily struggles and create my own little worlds. Personally, I found this strange form of photography to be helpful in creating things I wanted to create, I also prefer to create things alone.
I never like to call myself a photographer because I am self taught and still don't understand all of the technical aspects of photography and using cameras. I've learned some things and do love natural light, painting with light and the artistic ghostliness you can create with light.
I am still considering it to be a learning process and an outlet in my life. I do love the use of the camera as a tool for capturing moments and being able to tell a story. I've tried all types of creative outlets (painting, drawing) but I always come back to this.
Thank you for reading and viewing my pictures.
I Love you always,
Kristamas
